Amarantos String Quartet

Amarantos Quartet

The Amarantos String Quartet was formed in Portland, Maine with the mission to reinvent the role of the string quartet in the modern cultural landscape. Through presentation of new music, unique collaborations and original arrangements violinists Lauren and Meagan, violist/arranger Bryan, and cellist Hannah are attracting new, diverse audiences to the chamber music genre. Classically trained, each member of the quartet has also performed extensively with musicians from a wide variety of styles such as rock, pop, folk, world, and more.

Jim Nichols
Jim Nichols
Jim Nichols grew interested in fiction writing while working as a ticket agent for a commuter airline in Rockland. Born in Brunswick and raised in Freeport, Maine, Nichols has worked variously as bartender, pilot, skycap, taxi driver, fence builder, orange picker, travel agent, and dispatcher for an air taxi service. His writing, which draws from his many experiences, has appeared in numerous regional and national magazines. Nichols now lives in Warren, Maine, with his wife Anne, and their two rescue dogs, Brady and Jessie. They have two grown sons, Aaron and Andrew.
Brian Daniels
Brian Daniels
Brian Daniels's fictitious character, Average Joe is a clueless, middle aged, middle of the road, thick around the middle man - Joe Wright. Joe's hilarious ramblings express the confusion and angst of a simple, old dude trying to make sense of a complicated, new world. He enjoys sharing "nearly true" stories about his fascinating and often quirky friends and family members, the challenges of aging, his trouble understanding his"little woman" and the challenges of coping with life in the modern world.
